Reasoning and communication skills are to be practiced here. Reasoning skills will include those that might be learned in college-level critical thinking and logic courses. Learning advanced mathematics or how to write computer code would also offer ways to develop and exercise reasoning skills. Regarding practicing communication skills, this will include developing both oral and written skills—speech, grammar, composition, and so on, and practicing rhetoric would involve both logic and speech.

Basic critical thinking skills will include being able to determine whether an argument is rationally persuasive. To do this, one would need to identify whether an argument is deductive, inductive, abductive, conductive, or analogical, for example. One would need to be able to identify the acceptabilty and relevance conditions of premises as well as what can make them together sufficient for drawing an inference. And so on.
